LINER NOTES:
You might have already noticed that the songs on this EP take a different approach to my general musical direction – they're stripped back, nearly acoustic (aside from the 808s and minimal synth) and sound generally less futuristic. First off – don't worry if you miss the ERROR_ era Tirful sound – it's coming back very soon.

There's a specific reason this record is a change in tone. The whole EP is a reflection on my record from 2 years ago, 'Fragmented and Lost'. The title 'Same Places, Different Endings' refers to revisiting places in my memories/emotions and responding to them with new perspective. Much has changed in my life in two years, so it felt like time to respond to these older lyrics – reinterpreting the traumas they document and making more sense of old thoughts and feelings.
It's a healing process.

Despite the lyrics being heavy at times, the headspace I'm approaching these topics from is more sustainable. There is still frustration, anger and sadness, but also the empowerment of better understanding.
In two years, I've made progress I desperately needed for many more before that, so this EP is a celebration of that.

The sound of this EP is a throwback to the bedroom emo/indie pop music of the 00s; the kind of songs that would autoplay when you open a friend's Myspace or Bebo page. I'll always have a soft spot for this era as it was the soundtrack of my youth – I also love this genre's power for communicating raw & vulnerable emotion. But most importantly – a nostalgic sound perfectly fits the reflective concept behind these songs.
