Witness Theater 2018 with Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan includes students from Trinity and Heschel High Schools.

Witness Theater is an innovative and emotional intergenerational, full-year journey for Holocaust survivors and high school students. Guided by a trained drama therapist, the two generations elicit and reveal each survivor's experiences, and explore issues of war, loss, trauma and resilience. Together they create a moving and educational performance to share with other students, parents and the public at large on Yom HaShoah.

Witness Theater was conceived and initiated by Irit and Ezra Dagan, and developed and expanded by JDC-Eshel, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee’s elderly division in Israel. The program was initiated in New York City in 2012 by Selfhelp Community Services. This year’s Witness Theater Program is a collaboration of Selfhelp Community Services, UJA-Federation of New York and the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan.

This program is generously funded by UJA-Federation of New York through the Community Initiative for Holocaust Survivors (CIHS), The Jewish Communal Fund (JCF) and the Claims Conference (Conference on Jewish Material Claims against Germany).
