Grain spawn plays a huge role in the health and success of your mushroom crop, so preparing your grain correctly is key. I prepare my rye grain by soaking, boiling, surface drying, and then pressure cooking the grain in glass jars. Once the grain has dried, it may be inoculated with the culture of your choice.

This procedure can be used for nearly every type of mushroom that humans cultivate.
