Sarangi

Meerut in Uttar Pradesh is known for its musical instruments. But few are aware that once a man known as Yaseen Behra used to make sarangi which are often compared to Stradivarius in the Indian context. Behra died in the 60s but his sarangis are still a prized possession and played by the maestros.

My heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Rajesh Dhawan who allowed me to make a small documentary on his passion for Sarangis. It is because of Mr Dhawan, Meerut is again gaining popularity for producing the quality instrument.
