This drawing tutorial is beginner-friendly and suitable for artists looking to create detailed texture effects with a minimum art kit -- which would be convenient for sketching on location or traveling light. It shows full process from start to finish with techniques explained.
🪨 In this video lesson, you will learn how to build convincing stone and coral textures using:
▫️Hatching and cross-hatching for structure and shadow
▫️Stippling for subtle surface variation
▫️Layering oil-based colored pencils for creating depth and color harmony
▫️ Mixing pigment ink with colored pencil to achieve bold contrast and rich detail
▫️Combining pen and pencil techniques to get a sense of realism with simple tools

🫧 3 oil-based colored pencils in earth tones (Polychromos from Faber Castell): Brown Ochre 182, Green Gold 268, Raw Umber 180
🫧 Waterproof pigment black ink liner- Copic 0.05
🫧Graphite pencil
🫧 Paper: I am using a A6-Homo drawing book from Muse Paper Japan with cold-pressed acid free watercolor paper.
