Well would you look at that. They’re extracting coal. Coal is a big deal in Wyoming. There’s a 1 out of 3 chance the energy used to power your home was mined in Wyoming. There’s also a 10% chance the natural gas you use was tapped here too. Wyoming is full of energy riches, and energy is what has defined this state for decades. Lots of people here in Wyoming rely on the energy sector for their jobs and way of life.

But Wyoming isn’t all coal and uranium miners or gas extractors. In fact, as we’ll see later, Wyoming is in trouble, financially, and its gonna need to diversify itself if it wants to prosper.

If we really want to get a feel for what Wyoming is like, we gotta get out of these coal fields and check out other areas of the state, too. That way, if you’re thinking of moving here, you’ll know where to go.
