The University of Hawaiʻi men’s basketball returns home this week looking to maintain its position atop the Big West standings after a two-game split on the road.

Hawaiʻi enters the week at 13-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play. The conference leaders have been dominant at home, posting an 11-1 record this season and riding a seven-game winning streak at Bankoh Arena.

Senior guard Dre Bullock has been a major spark during that stretch, providing energy on both ends of the floor. Bullock has totaled 200 points, 29 steals and eight blocks this season, leading the team in steals while delivering several momentum-shifting plays that extend beyond the box score.

“Just trying to do anything to juice up the energy and get the fans involved,” Bullock said. “That gives the guys on the court more edge. It’s about getting everybody going, putting on a show and having fun playing hard.”

Bullock said those moments often come instinctively, particularly in transition.

“As long as my legs aren’t tired and I’m feeling good, I decide right then and there,” he said. “Whenever I get a steal, it’s going to be something special.”

Head coach Eran Ganot said those plays serve as an emotional igniter.

“We talk about setting the tone and symbolism,” Ganot said. “It’s an igniter for us. It’s not just the dunk or being above the rim — it’s the effort, the defensive intensity and the deflections that get us going.”
