Marites Africa, founder and Executive Director of Peacemakers' Circle, assigned us to make this short film on their project in the grassroots community of Tala in Caloocan City, Metro Manila where the Muslims and Christians have been inspired by The Peacemakers' Circle (a non-profit interfaith organization) to reach out to one another and build relationships of mutual respect, understanding and cooperation since 2003. What used to be a conflict-ridden community where the challenge of surviving the pangs of poverty was made even more difficult by the attitudes of fear and mistrust (which prevailed between Muslims and Christians for many years), has turned into a thriving community where members of the Muslim-Christian Peacemakers' Association of Tala are practicing the skills they have learned from the workshops, which The Peacemakers' Circle conducted for them through the years. They are now helping each other in their micro-enterprise and community-building endeavors, and are serving as models of Muslim-Christian Dialogue and Peacebuilding.

This video is the product of a few hours direct immersion in the said community...applying "catch-as-catch-can" and pure intuitive, if inspired, response-ability in telling a creative and effective visual story, even if only a peek at the awesome miracle of the triumph of the human spirit in the oneness-in-diversity made manifest in this small Muslim-Christian community in Tala, Caloocan, Metro Manila, Philippines.

We need to empower more people with using the powerful moving image language of digital film for AdvocaCinema to tell the stories of the triumph of the human spirit in every nook and cranny of our society to put the light on the darkness of negativity peddled by controlled media to insidiously disempower the people in the world to be blindfolded by cynicism and skepticism.
