Kalyana Rasam (Wedding Style Rasam)

Homemade Rasam Powder to make
Delicious Rasam at home 🤩

For dry roasting

Chana dal - 1 tbsp
Toor dal - 1 tbsp
Coriander seeds - 1 tbsp
Dried chillies - 4 nos
Pepper corns - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
Cinnamon stick - 1 inch piece
Curry leaves - 1 sprig

Other ingredients

Hing - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

Dry Roast all the ingredients till it turns golden brown and aromatic, let it cool down completely. Then add Hing & turmeric powder and grind finely. Store it in an airtight container.

Toor dal - 1/2 cup cooked

Tamarind - a big lemon sized soaked in water
Tomatoes - 2 medium sized
Grind it finely
Jaggery - 1 tbsp
Green chilies - 3 nos (slit)
Water - 1 cup
Bring it to boil and Boil it for 10 minutes
Add cooked toor dal + 2 to 3 cup water
Grated coconut - 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Rasam powder - 1&1/2 tbsp
Add water to adjust the consistency at this stage
Boil it for 10 mins in medium low heat, when it starts foaming
Add salt to taste and coriander leaves, turn off heat.
Give it a stir

For tempering

Ghee - 1 to 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Red chilies - 2 nos
Crushed garlic - 5 nos
Curry leaves
Hing - 1/2 tsp

Pour it to the Rasam, mix well and enjoy with steamed rice 🤗🙌
