UK Benefit Fraud Exposed: Landlord Must Repay £376,550 or Go to Jail

A 45-year-old man from Slough has been ordered to pay £376,550 after committing one of the UK’s biggest benefit fraud cases.
He illegally claimed Direct Payments and social benefits for years while secretly owning two rental properties and earning income from both houses.

Investigators later discovered a fraud worth over £169,000, money that could have funded vital public services, including social workers, care homes, and thousands of hours of domiciliary care.

The Reading Crown Court found him guilty under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) 2002, ordering him to repay the full amount within three months. Failure to do so could result in 45 months of imprisonment.

This case sends a strong message:
