Andrew Logan's Alternative Miss World is making a very welcome, colourful and decorative come-back at Shakespeare's Globe in London in October 2014 after a five year absence.

This welcoming, all-inclusive event is a magnet on an international scale for creatives of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. The event focuses not on beauty but on personal transformation, celebrating equality and the inherently unique.

This event celebrates the true creativity of the individual. Drag as we know it is man to woman, or woman to man but, as Andrew says, there are so many other things you can be.

Following a visit to Crufts in 1968 Andrew was struck by the judging criteria for the competition, being: 'Poise, Personality and Originality', which he then appropriated for his own 'Alternative Miss World' competition.

Andrew Logan co-hosts the event each time with a well known name from the British cultural scene. In the past, contestants have included bankers, builders, celebrities, drag queens, an elderly lady, and even a robot! Several well known artists and performers have participated over the years, including David Hockney, Leigh Bowery and Grayson Perry, who remains integrally involved with the project.
