Being a Follower of Jesus Christ. What does it mean? How does it look to live a life with Christ? Here are 9 verses from the King James Bible that help to clarify these questions. #1. Be born again in the Holy Spirit. Repent. Surrender to Christ (believe He died on the cross for our sins). Walk in His ways. (follow His commandments). John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee. Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Mathew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. #2 Pray about everything. God wants to be a part of every aspect of our lives. Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. #3 Listen to Him. To hear God, you need to know His Word. What does the Bible teach you? The Holy Spirit can be heard when you spend quiet moments reading your Bible and praying. Mathew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye Him. #4 Believe and trust His Word. Read His Word and know His promises. Believe that God is never changing. John 3:15-17 That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through Him might be saved. #5 Obey Him, or be corrected. God loves those He corrects because it’s sin that separates us from Him. John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life .#6 Love him with all your strength. Surround your heart, soul, and mind with all His truth. Mark 12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. #7 Share His good news. Share His gospel with people who love or hate Him. Everyone needs to hear the truth. Mathew 28:20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. #8Serve Him by sharing His fruit. Live life being filled with the fruits of the Spirit. John 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me: and where I am, there shall also my servant be; if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. Galatians 5: 22-26 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. #9 Suffer for Him. As a Christian, you will experience rejection from the world. Do not fear, though, because Jesus is with us. John 15:17-19 These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. There is only one way to Heaven, and it’s through Jesus Christ. Let’s rejoice in that!
