Spyro Reignited Trilogy Spyro 1 Any% NBS Speedrun in

Описание к видео Spyro Reignited Trilogy Spyro 1 Any% NBS Speedrun in

Achieved on July 8th, 2024
Played on a HDD PS4 Pro
NTSC Version
Final Time: Around 57:33.40

Timing starts on the final start menu input and ends on the final hit to Gnasty Gnorc.

Took 12 completed runs in 5 consecutive days to bring my PB down from a 59:56 all the way to a 57:34 with updated strats and smarter routing. Also on the same day, I had a 58:03 with an in game time of 30:58. That proves just how god awful annoying something that is out of your control can affect your runs when prioritizing RTA over IGT. I wonder if I will ever switch to IGT prioritizing. The reason being is how the loading screen times can sometimes take over 5 seconds or longer to load into any level in this version of Spyro 1.

Nonetheless, some levels are played to perfection and all the tricks that I set out to do I nailed (Twilight Harbor). This more than makes up for the silly mistakes in this run (Getting lost after Dry Canyon and doing the completely wrong Wizard Peak route). This could be the best PS4 speedrun that I played to date in some ways due to how well I performed and how updated this run is. If I am still an RTA player, this will be my last run ever in this category since I don’t want to have load time RNG to be an issue, haha XD

Can’t wait to play the Gex Trilogy coming later on this year! :D

Response to the IGT “Excessive pausing” new rule by the SRT speedrun.com Spyro the Dragon Mod Team:

I’m an old school speedrunner that have been speedrunning for a while now (Started in 2011). For the PS4 Crash and Spyro games, I tend to speedrun how I want to speedrun- Prioritizing RTA timing then anything else without caring what is required for the leaderboards. For example, I don’t have any loadless times added in the Crash games since I have an iMac and not a PC and I found no solution to have loadless times on an iMac. So none of my Crash runs are on the leaderboards.

On June 28th, 2024, this was brought up by the mod team:

“After some discussions with the mod team, we feel the time has come to officially set a ruling on IGT manipulation for Console runs.

As you probably know the console version of SRT is timed using IGT. This is due to the complication of setting up a load remover for console. IGT has its flaws, but is infinitely more fair than using RTA when loads between consoles vary so widely.

With that being said IGT is very easy to abuse in a way that ruins the spirit of a speedrun. In the past we have not clearly defined what classifies as IGT abuse and going forward we would like to correct that.

"Excessive pausing" will not be allowed for submitted console runs. This means you cannot pause the game for more than 5 seconds to do something outside of the game. This includes pausing for a bathroom break, pausing to collect yourself, pausing to read chat, or pausing to do something IRL.

The spirit of a speedrun is to play through the game as quickly as possible; and to stop playing the game in the middle of your run and not be penalized feels like an oversight of the IGT system.

If your future submitted runs include excessive pausing they will not be rejected, however the time spent away from the game will be added to your ending IGT.

For trifecta runs console players are more than welcome to use the opening cutscenes to take a quick break in between games this will keep in line with PC runs in which the loadless timer doesn't run during the opening cutscenes. Outside of that, no more than 5 seconds should be spent paused in between games.”

So basically the time that I spent in between games during trifecta runs will be counted as IGT for the leaderboards. As an RTA runner, I like to keep my IGT accurate to show how strong of a run it is (If I run this on PC/PS5 or so) as well as me comparing it to if I make the switch of prioritizing IGT over RTA (part of the reason is because the leaderboards prioritize IGT as well. It will sort of misrepresent me.). It is SO lame for me considering that is the main PS4 game that I ran for nearly 6 years seriously but I understand its purpose. I’m not trying to be a complainer but this is the reason why I will not submit most/all of my trifecta runs to the leaderboards anymore. Hmm, maybe I can as a comment from old leaderboard runs that I did before. Thanks for reading my side on how I feel. No hard feelings! :)
