I'm on the edge of the Belfast Holylands district, beside the river Lagan in south Belfast. I'm meeting Holylands and University, Intervention manager, Michelle.
Michelle explains her role. She tells me how, Belfast City Council funded efforts, are being made to improve and transform the area and also support the local community.
Michelle and local lady Catrina, show me the fantastic new mural recently painted on Horsey Hill lane. Eye catching history related murals like the Horsey hill mural, are part of this effort to enhance and inform. This old forgotten lane leads down to the river Lagan towpath. Back in the 1800s massive Clydesdale horses like the one in the mural used to plod up and down the river Lagan carrying imported goods from the docks to beyond Lisburn. Barges were laden full of sand, coal, grain.
The role of these old work horses played, in facilitating Ulster industry, is long since gone but gone but it is not forgotten.
The Horsey Hill mural was painted by Italian born artist Daniella Balmaverde. Daniella has lived in the Holylands for a very long time. The mural is yet another addition as part of a Department for Communities project aimed at improving the area and reducing anti-social behaviour.
Brid Ruddy of the Horsey Hill Action Group said that she was thrilled with the project so far and hoped that it could further spur on regeneration in the area, with there being plans to turn the lane into a mini greenway that could be used by all of the community.
She said: "We are thrilled with the work that Daniella has been doing on Horsey Hill which highlights the history and heritage of this part of South Belfast.
