We may be the champion in all four of the standard ladders, but all those accolades pale in comparison to the title of grand champion. To attain this, we must best Xan Kreigor in single combat but to earn that right, we must first best one final ladder: the challenger ladder, a trio of deathmatch maps filled with the the Corrupt, robots reprogrammed by Xan to serve him absolutely.

Phobos Moon is the first and, in my opinion, hardest of the trio of maps leading to Xan. This is due to three factors.
First, it has a lot of opponents of a higher skill level than the one you selected at the started. For us, this means bots capable of both the shock combo and using the impact hammer to get higher jumps among being faster to react, more accurate and better at dodging.
Secondly, Phobos Moon is a very compact map which the bots are able to nagivate with ease, often coming together in the middle to amass frags against one another quickly.
Third, the frag limit is only fifteen, meaning the bots can very quickly run away with the match before you've even begun.

My advice for prevailing here is to guard the rocket launcher jealously, as it's a great weapon to use against the bots when they scuffle in the middle area. If you die and spawn at the top of the map, go for the redeemer and damage amplifier, if for no other reason than to stop the bots from getting them. Most important of all, don't give up.

Remember that the bots have to win each and every time, but you only need to win once to move forward. Keep trying and you'll get there.
