Toa Payoh is one of the stations opened on that day as the first opened segment of MRT North-South Line between Toa Payoh and Yio Chu Kang.
Against all odds and oppositions due to its ridiculous cost, limited local expertise at the beginning of the project, and financial risk, MRT becomes the moving factor of the people and economy in the term of time savings and real estate value.
