Sunshine Over Tashkurgan (Piano Solo) 阳光照耀着塔什库尔干 (钢琴)

The original piece was written by the Chinese composer Chen Gang (陈钢) in 1976 as a showpiece for the violin with piano accompaniment. I first heard it at a violin competition and was awed by its beauty. Since I could not find any score for the solo piano I thought I would do an arrangement from the original score.

Tashkurgan (sometimes spelled Tashkorgan or Taxkorgan) Tajik Autonomous County is one of the counties of Kashgar Prefecture in western Xinjiang, China. From what I have read, the melody lines are folk tunes of Tashkurgan. The majority population are ethnic Tajiks and this is their music. (Source: Wikipedia)
