The ninth session of the General Assembly of the States Parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage was held at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris, from 5th July to 7th July, 2022. The session consisted of 180 States Parties and issues relevant for the safeguarding of living heritage around the world were discussed along with the future prospects of the convention. Topics like global reflection on the listing mechanisms of the Convention, the plan for the use of resources of the Intangible Heritage Cultural Fund and the accreditation of non-governmental organizations were also deliberated upon. Twelve new members of the committee were elected for the Intergovernmental Committee on Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and India was one of them for the 2022-2026 cycle. India has achieved great heights and this is a starting point for India having a major contribution towards the field of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
