Hobo befriends a lonely boy, Chris, in a park. He is in a wheelchair. His overprotective father dislikes dogs and forbids his son to play with Hobo.
The boy’s caregiver, David, protests but to no avail. The father is adamant.
On another day, Chris and David are back at the park – and so is Hobo who likes the boy. As they watch kids throwing a frisbee, Chris' wheelchair suddenly rolls uncontrollably down a hill toward a busy road. Hobo chases after it and saves the boy's life by tipping the wheelchair on its side just short of the road. The father who witnessed this warms to the dog that rescued his son and becomes more sympathetic to his son's wishes.

About The Littlest Hobo:
The Littlest Hobo is the Canadian television series based upon a 1958 American film of the same name directed by Charles R. Rondeau. The series first aired from 1963 to 1965 in syndication, and was revived for a popular second run on CTV, spanning six seasons, from October 11, 1979, to March 7, 1985. The concept of the show was that of "an ownerless dog".

All three productions revolved around an extremely intelligent free-spirited German Shepherd, the titular Hobo, who wanders from town to town, helping people in need (all portrayed by actors in celebrity guest appearance roles). Despite the attempts of the many people whom he helped to adopt him, he heads off by himself at the end of each episode following the mysterious call of the open road.

Referred to as "Gulliver" in a single episode, the dog is often referred to by the name Hobo or by the names given by temporary human companions. His origins, motivation, and ultimate destination are never explained on screen.
