Welcome to The World of Katrina!

This father's day, I wanted to reflect with my daddy on our journey to a better relationship. According to the Census Bureau, there are 13.7 million single parents in the United States today. Those single parents collectively are responsible for raising 22 million children alone. The conversation my father and I had was not only important for our relationship but also could be important and eye opening for another relationship to be mended. It is very common for me to know several people in my circle who know of their father but generally have no relationship. This milestone is important to me because my actions towards my father have created a shift in our relationship for the better.

The history in the African American family all the way back to slavery gives us stories of how families were separated to break down the man in the family. When we learn that structure is important we can reconstruct our families.

In this video, we laughed, reflected on the past and talked about our future moving forward.
