In this series, I explore the full story of the Proto-Indo-European migrations — from the Yamnaya steppe nomads through, the ancient and medieval periods, all the way to the present day.

My goal is to create a simple, digestible overview that explains:
1. How these migrations occurred;
2. Where the various archaeological, linguistic and tribal names come from; and
3. How they shaped the modern world we live in today

In part 1 we are specifically exploring the branches of the Proto-Indo-Europeans that became the Celtic and Germanic peoples of Northern and Western Europe. In later volumes we will be covering the entirety of the migrations into Southern and Central Europe, Asia and India.
