Ozone Generators
Ozone generators use ozone (O3, which is three oxygen molecules bonded together) as a molecule to remove odors from your grow space.
Ozone can reduce contaminants such as mold, bacteria, odors, and pests.

Ozone generators should be appropriately sized to match your grow space and/or ducting system and are the most technologically advanced method for odor removal.


Word of Caution
Ozone generators should only be used in commercial applications and in areas that are unoccupied.
This is because an EPA reports warns… “When inhaled, ozone can damage the lungs. Relatively low amounts can cause chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath and throat irritation. Ozone may also worsen chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma and compromise the ability of the body to fight respiratory infections.”

Ozone Generation Limits… Limit Benefits
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) limits the amount of ozone put out by indoor medical devices to 0.05 ppm. That number falls below the amounts needed to provide any antibacterial and antifungal benefit.

Ozone Generation Levels
While the output of indoor ozone generators may be minimal, higher levels can accumulate indoors, depending on the circumstances. A 1995 EPA study found that when run on high with the doors closed, some ozone generators produced concentrations of .2 ppm to .3 ppm, four to six times higher than FDA standards.

Ozone Hazards to Plants
Ozone generators can damage plants in indoor environments.
High levels of ozone will inhibit plants stomata.
Signs of ozone damage in plants…
Chlorosis (yellowing due to insufficient chlorophyll production)
Necrosis (dying of cells)
Stipples (Tan irregular spots)
