Sewing a linen gingham dress | Relaxing Vlog

October has been a great month. We have been blown away by all the gardens and parks busting with colourful flowers.

I have been really happy with the things I made this month. I dyed some textured cotton with eucalyptus bark that I found at a park near our house.
I used the dyed cotton to make new cushions for our couch. The dye turned our lovely. Initially I was disappointed by some dye inconsistencies but quickly remembered to accept that that is often the nature with natural dye and I was able to cut around any marks.

The yellow gingham dress was so fun to design and make. Chris choose the fabric and gave me the challenge to make a dress in one weekend. I stayed up very late sewing on Friday night but it was well worth it.

This month I have realised that I create well when choice is limited.
Once the fabric was chosen for me the design became very clear and I was not distracted by too much choice.
It was also good to use a bright colour I normally would not choose.
I was surprised by how much I liked it.
I am really looking forward to next month because my parents are coming to visit. I haven’t seen them since moving and I have missed them a lot.
