The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport says preliminary reports indicate that the crash which claimed the lives of eight young people on the N2 in Mandeni was a result of negligent driving.

It is alleged that the 18-year-old driver of the motor vehicle, who also died in the crash, lost control and collided with a truck.
