Since Sammy Virji and Smokey Bubblin’ B last appeared on the label in June and April 2019 respectively a hell of a lot has happened within the UK Garage scene. From simmering away in the underground the genre has had new life breathed into it with commercial hits such as AJ Tracy’s ‘Ladbroke Grove’ shining a bright light on the sound once again. Being branded as NUKG (New UK Garage) by Conducta his label Kiwi Records and reputation as an artist has also helped elevate this new era Garage sound to today’s younger generation of listeners. With both Sammy and Smokey appearing on Kiwi with their own EP’s they return to 1Forty for their highly anticipated collab as teased very recently by Conducta in his latest Kiwi Direkt mix, bringing a perfect soundtrack for a summer’s day.

Sammy Virji set one scene alight and helped forge another all in the space of three years and there’s no signs of slowing with an ever growing eclectic discography brimming with energy. Now firmly at the front of UKG and underground UK Bass music as a whole the Oxford born producer is leading the charge of ‘NUKG’ with Conducta and co, whilst still maintaining his relationships with the likes of Chip Butty Records/Rare Supply and 1Forty as well as forging new ones overseas with Barong Family. All of this along with a healthy list of self releases have propelled him into a monthly Rinse FM residency and enjoy consecutive sold out ’Like A Virjin’ tours which all fit into his extensive schedule. This has seen him takeover the countries most reputable venues such as Stealth, Hidden, Wire and participate in some of the countries biggest events at Printworks, NASS, Boomtown and across the pond in Europe at the highlight of every underground music lovers calendar - Outlook Festival. 2020 saw him working with DJ Zinc, DJ Q, Moksi and the Prince of UKG and fellow Kiwi - Conducta, before dropping his debut album Spice Up My Life’ which has been one of the most critically acclaimed albums in bass music in 2020 hailing praise from the likes of Skream, Chris Lorenzo and Mistajam to name a few.

Smokey Bubblin’ B has made himself one of the most renowned names in the UKG scene after the years of grafting away keeping the sound alive in the underground have come full circle, with the Garage sound now very much on the rise the South London born producer is reaping the rewards for his dedication. Smokey became one of the earliest recruits under Kiwi Records alongside Sammy to help the Prince Of Conducta take NUKG (New UK Garage) to the next level with his Better Run EP. In the last 12 months alone he has signed with Earth Agency and been awarded with a monthly Rinse residency too. Although the last 12 months have been integral to the growth of his reputation, his roots in the underground go much deeper than that with his discography more than holding its own, gaining regular support and friends over the years and from UK Garage day one’s such as DJ EZ, Hatcha, Matt Jam Lamont to name a few.
