In celebration of the life long leadership and contributions of Carol Dougal and Hedy Ratner, cofounders and co-presidents of the WBDC - Women's Business Development Center, Chicago, IL. - The Women's Business Enterprise National Council proudly present these wall sculptures with sincere gratitude.

Since 1986, Carol & Hedy - have worked tirelessly, providing support and growth of women's business ownership.  Artist, Gail Ahlers was privileged to be commissioned by WBENC to design and create these art sculpture awards given in appreciation to these extraordinary women.

Framed in 100-year-old reclaimed lumber, the cut steel portrays the longtime Chicago headquarters of WBDC, The Willoughby Tower.
The logo of the WBDC displayed in the upper right corner is constructed from forged steel and covered in 23k Gold Leafing. The leaves are aligned with their motto of "Your growth is our business".  The artfully designed chrysanthemum flowers (the official flower of Chicago), made from recycled Pepsi cans, with beautiful pearl clusters in the centers, a favorite of the honorees, symbolizing beauty derived from overcoming adversity.
