Street Jiu-Jitsu Basics that every Jiujiteiro MUST know😱 Unified Jiu-Jitsu with Jean Vandesteen

If you have been training Jiu-Jitsu for a while or even if you are a complete beginner, you have probably heard the word Self-Defense, a word that for many can be defined as something really BORING. Yes, this is where you zone out and just wanna get it over with so you can start rolling :) After all, many of the techniques taught as self-defense seem almost unusable in sparring. Instead, they seem a bit closer to say "Krav Maga" because some street applicable Jiu-Jitsu techniques will even force you to abandon some of the most common techniques used in a competitive environment altogether. So, if you are for example used to pull guard as a part of your game, then this for obvious reasons is not a great idea when in a street altercation situation due to various elements that can happen when on the ground. Another technique to be added to this is the armbar from the closed guard: Let's say you lock it up, but the guy lifts you up as he is a strong guy and slams your body and head against a concrete floor.
What about the double leg takedown? This is a wrestler's best friend - IN A SPORTS ENVIRONMENT with a RULESET that is in place to PROTECT the athletes. In a street environment, there is ARE NO RULES and no points and so using your knee or a bottle or something else to inflict serious damage on the guy diving for the double leg becomes a high possibility. Sports Jiu-Jitsu and Street Jiu-Jitsu are not the same thing!
YES, THEY ARE! It is all Jiu-Jitsu and they will make your Jiu-Jitsu more complete.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was developed to assist the Jiujiteiro in ANY SITUATION - not just on the Tatami and there are techniques for every situation. So why limit yourself to only one segment of BJJ when there is so much more to learn?
Hopefully, you will never have to use any of these techniques. However, if you have to... JIu-Jitsu is there for you to keep you and your family and loved ones safe.
