In the early 1980s, the Haida, led by President Miles Richardson, stood against loggers and government officials to keep them from coming into Windy Bay, Canada - a pristine watershed of 6,000 acres. David Suzuki featured their fight on his TV show, The Nature of Things (a nature show). He speaks about his experience in his Legacy speech, and their relationship with the land - a relationship that we have lost in the developed world.
