Hoitaa was conceived on a porch in the woods in a house in Finland on the outskirts of Helsinki, where we have toured twice now.
Hoitaa means 'to take care of' in Finnish.
We came back to Claycastle in Youghal and put down the main parts.
Then John Burke and Tony Kiley turned it into something so powerful.
When we brought the song to Paddy O Shea ( Southernmanfilms) , I did not give him any direction, he just saw someone running for the video. He didnt know what the title was at this stage either, so I think the music was doing its job from the word go.
David Cooney (actor)did such a special job in the video. He epitomizes the whole struggle of mental health and how thin a line many people walk every single say and how one tiny action can change someone's outlook on life.
During the shooting of the video, many of the public were actually trying to save him during the filming thinking he was suicidal.
A plain clothes gard tried to talk him down from the wall.
There are good people everywhere.
We hope that the song and video might help someone in desperate need of help and get them to pick up the phone or knock on that door.
We'll be releasing the song on behalf of Shine a light Charity for mental health and suicide prevention in Cork October 3rd.
