Paul Tillich Systematic Theology: Volume II

Описание к видео Paul Tillich Systematic Theology: Volume II

This is an overview of the Paul Tillich’s Systematic Theology Volume II covering Part III: Existence and the Christ. Paul Tillich saw himself as doing theology on the boundary between religious traditions and major movements in secular culture. His formulation of theological concepts has stood the test of time and are still very popular today. This volume follows up his idea of ultimate concern from Volume I. The term “the Christ” is contrasted with the existential situation of people. Tillich writes about the relationship between Christianity and history and why it’s so important to base faith on one’s existential situation rather than on historical judgments. Watch until the end where Tillich explains that the “Cross” is first an event and then later a symbol while the “Resurrection” is first a symbol and then later narrativized as an event.
