Lord of Ajasa, also known as Alariwo of Africa, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, and music executive born Olusegun Osaniyi on July 16, 1982. A native of Akure, Ondo State, he is widely recognized for his unique contribution to Nigerian hip-hop through Yoruba-language rap, blending street consciousness, cultural expression, and rhythmic storytelling. He is also the CEO of Apashe Records.
Lord of Ajasa earned the nickname “The Lord of Flavor” during his polytechnic years in Ondo State, where he studied Quantity Surveying. His stage name is rooted in the Yoruba word “Ajasa,” meaning flavor, reflecting the richness and originality of his musical style. He rose to prominence in 2000 with his breakout track “Ma yi lo,” which established him as a strong voice in the emerging Nigerian rap scene.
Throughout the early stages of his career, Lord of Ajasa collaborated with influential Nigerian artists such as 9ice, Olamide, and the late Da Grin, helping shape the evolution of indigenous hip-hop in Nigeria. His discography includes notable tracks like “Le Fenu So,” “Oti Ya,” “Ara Awe,” “Omo Igboro,” “Democrazy,” “New Era,” and “Anyhow,” showcasing his versatility and deep connection to Yoruba culture.
Due to a serious health challenge diagnosed as peptic ulcer, Lord of Ajasa stepped away from the music industry to focus on recovery and other business ventures. In 2019, reports highlighted his urgent need for medical support for surgery, bringing renewed public attention to his legacy and influence in African hip-hop.
Today, Lord of Ajasa remains a respected figure in Nigerian hip-hop, Afro-street rap, and Yoruba rap music, remembered for his cultural impact, lyrical depth, and role in paving the way for indigenous African rap.
