Homowo Festival is an annual harvest festival celebrated by the Ga people of Ghana, particularly in the Greater Accra Region. Homowo means "hooting at hunger".
The festival is a significant cultural event that showcases the rich heritage and traditions of the GA people, promoting unity, gratitude and celebration of their history and resilience. During the festival, the Ga people offer thanksgiving, perform traditional dances, and share food, especially "Kpokpoi" with family, friends and the community.
The traditional rites and customs were performed by Nii Teinor Ashigenteh Clan and led by Nii Teinor We. While the Durbar was led by Nii Nortey Owuo the IV, Osu Kinkan We, from the Owuo Clan.
