What should happen after an Illinois personal injury law firm receives your settlement check?

In this video, Illinois personal injury lawyer Josh Rohrscheib explains our firm's process when a settlement check is received for a client.

We typically deposit the funds in our client trust account, and after negotiating down a client's medical bills and liens, we:

1) issue payments to cover the bills and liens,
2) issue payment to the law firm pursuant to our contract with the client, and
3) issue a payment to the client for the net settlement proceeds.

We also provide clients with a Settlement Statement, which details where every cent of the settlement funds is allocated, and we also typically give the client copies of the checks we issue from our client trust account to cover the client's medical bills, along with copies of correspondence confirming any reductions we received from their medical providers.
