Lisa uses a stainless steel finger guard to protect the fingers of her "holding" (non-cutting hand). She is able to use the guard to stabilize the fruit or vegetable while she cuts it. She finds that it can be awkward to figure out, but that it does protect her fingers.

Video: Lisa shows you the small stainless steel "shield" with two finger holes on the back of it. The shield has a flat edge and a curved edge. She uses the flat edge to hold the fruit or vegetable down while she cuts, keeping all her fingers behind the shield. She demonstrates on a carrot, apple and potato.
