brain natriuretic peptide

Описание к видео brain natriuretic peptide

(BNP, B-type natriuretic peptide, ventricular natriuretic peptide)

A hormone secreted by cardiomyocytes in the heart ventricles in response to stretching caused by increased ventricular blood volume.

Since the actions are mediated via the atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) receptors, the physiologic effects of BNP are identical to those of ANP.

It causes a reduction in renal sodium reabsorption (natriuresis), which results in a decreased blood volume by diuresis.
Secondary effects may be an improvement in cardiac ejection fraction and reduction of systemic blood pressure.
Lipolysis is also increased.

Cf. atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP)
