At least 13 people were killed and several others injured after a powerful explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening. The blast occurred inside a moving car close to Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort, triggering panic in the area. Following the incident, Delhi Metro authorities shut down the Red Fort Metro Station, while the historic Red Fort has been closed to visitors for the next three days as a security precaution.

Preliminary investigations are underway, but officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the blast. According to Delhi Police sources quoted by NDTV, the prime suspect Umar Mohammad is believed to have links with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). Investigators say Umar was part of a recently exposed JeM module in Haryana’s Faridabad and allegedly executed the Red Fort attack after several of his associates were arrested on Sunday.
