Radiator Thermostat Stuck Closed

My 2001 Hyundai Accent Radiator thermostat stuck in the closed position.
I was told at the parts store that thermostats dont get stuck closed
anymore.
Replacing the part took care of the overheating issue.
Top hose was very hot while bottom hose was warm/cool to the touch.
