Way back in 1994, Aristides Poort started developing the Arium material that possesses the properties of the wood used in the Stradivarius violins, and that was expected to surpass the sound and sustain.

Arium was developed together with a number of brilliant scientists from Delft University of Technology (the Netherlands). Their objective was to find a type of material capable of equaling the acoustic and resonance qualities of wood, or, if possible, even to improve those.

ULTIMATE SUSTAIN & RESONANCE

The cell structure provides a great resonance and an even greater sustain. The sustain from the low E string is easily 45 seconds (!). After each string impact, the one-piece design vibrates with maximum intensity and allows each tone or chord to fade away very slowly and continuously. Arium vibrates three-dimensionally, which does not only extend the sustain considerably, but also enhances the acoustic sound volume.

The flying heel joint, an ergonomically shaped, smooth transition from the neck to the body, which is possible only in one-piece construction neck designs, allows unhindered playing of the highest frets.
