There have been some posts from Olympus OM-D body owners who have just ventured into using either legacy film lenses not meant for such bodies or new non electronically coupled lenses which don't communicate to the body - this means the focus ring does not activate the body’s focus assist features of Magnify or Focus Peaking.

For such lenses you need to assign a button on the body or otherwise, to toggle the feature on/off

To assign a button to a feature, use Custom Menu, Cog B. For E-M1 owners the Magnify feature does not even need button assignment, it is one of the toggles in the Multifunction button
