We were very excited that Yuyutsu Sharma stopped by the Centre on his way to New York.
During this event, Sharma shared his experiences of translating poetry by Irish authors such as Seamus Heaney into Nepali, as well as translating the work of Nepali poets into English.

Yuyutsu Sharma is a world-renowned Himalayan poet and translator. He has published eleven poetry collections including, Lost Horoscope; New Poems, The Second Buddha Walk, A Blizzard in my Bones: New York Poems, Quaking Cantos: Nepal Earthquake Poems, Nepal Trilogy, Space Cake, Amsterdam and Annapurna Poems. Three of his poetry books, Poemes de l’ Himalayas, Poemas de Los Himalayas and Jezero Fewa & Konj have already appeared in French, Spanish and Slovenian.
Sharma spends half the year travelling, reading, and conducting creative writing workshops at universities around the world. Currently, Sharma is the editor of Pratik: A Quarterly Magazine of Contemporary Writing. When he is back home in Nepal, he enjoys trekking in the Himalayas.
Sharma has received fellowships and grants from The Rockefeller Foundation, Ireland Literature Exchange, Trubar Foundation, Slovenia, The Institute for the Translation of Hebrew Literature and The Foundation for the Production and Translation of Dutch Literature.
