WALKS IN HAMPSHIRE at GREYWELL, ODIHAM CASTLE and the BASINGSTOKE CANAL. [4k]

Описание к видео WALKS IN HAMPSHIRE at GREYWELL, ODIHAM CASTLE and the BASINGSTOKE CANAL. [4k]

This is another video in my series “Walks in Hampshire” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode, I visit the village of Greywell (5 miles East of Basingstoke) and explore the surrounding area.

My 4.5 mile (approx) circular route starts at St Mary's church in Greywell and initially I wander through the village which is full of pretty houses & cottages. Just beyond the Fox & Goose pub, I join the tow path of the old Basingstoke canal at the mouth of the Greywell tunnel (home to one of the largest Winter roosts of bats in the UK).

I follow the canal, crossing over the River Whitewater, until I come across the remains of Odiham Castle where I take time to explore!

I continue along beside the canal until I get to a lift bridge where I cross over to the the Southern side of the waterway before heading across some beautiful meadows. Shortly after, I enter the Greywell Moors Nature reserve which is known for sedges, rushes, mosses & liverworts.

Eventually my route takes me on a North Easterly direction, past Greywell Mill and along a path on the banks of the river back to my original starting point at the church.
