Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her latest press conference announced a major GST reform in line with PM Modi’s Red Fort declaration. India will now move to two GST slabs, aimed at giving relief to the common man, farmers, and key sectors. Essentials like roti, paratha, bread, and chhena will now be GST-free, while items like ghee, butter, diagnostic services, leather, and granite will attract just 5% GST.
