The Chlauses are often accompanied by a group of "Schön Chlauses" (representing the positive or good figures) and "Föls" (representing darker, more mischievous figures). The Chlauses walk through the villages, often in small groups, making loud noises by ringing their cowbells, singing, and chanting to ward off bad spirits. At each home, they may perform a short ritual or offer a blessing, ensuring prosperity and health for the upcoming year.
