A History of the Linzer Derby

The third round of the 23-24 Austrian Bundesliga has the first Linzer Derby since 1997 on the schedule. And this is the perfect opportunity to give you a bit of insight into the convoluted history of this derby as over time LASK has been facing three different teams, but more or less the same fan base. Both sides can claim an Austrian championship from days long gone and both sides share a checkered history of their respective beloved club. And in the the late 90s, the rivalry took a completely different turn.
