There were many little trims throughout the fight, including some of the Ann being thrown around by Kong like a doll to avoid her being eaten by the dino's. The fall over the cliff had the biggest cuts to improve the pacing. You'll see Kong fall immediately vs slowly dropping to one cliff below, then rolling off that.

The fight in the vines removed the majority of the far away wide angle shots, again keeping things up close and intimidate. As they drop down through the vines, it again was trimmed to improve the pacing. So rather than the dino dropping only a little, then drops some more, it just drops quickly. And the tension in the scene is kept to a maximum as a result of deleting all the filler show off wide shots and so forth.

It's a great set piece that just needed a little trimming as I illustrate here.
