A Ride on the Silverwood Steam Train

Описание к видео A Ride on the Silverwood Steam Train

Welcome aboard the Silverwood steam train at Silverwood Theme park in Athol, Idaho.
The Silverwood Express is pulled by the historic Number 7, a 2-6-2 steam locomotive which dates back to 1915. What is today Silverwood theme park started as an airfield and museum of antique aircraft. It changed owners around 1977 to a wealthy man who brought the steam train there after a fire at the hanger which held the antique airplanes. The steam train and its roughly three mile loop of track predated most of the park. The train needed a village to travel through which resulted in the construction of Silverwood's main street along with its buildings and shops. Rides and other attractions were added, the park officially opened in 1988. The airport runway is now an entrance and parking lot, the aviation parts of the park are no longer active but the steam train is still running strong. It is now the largest theme park in the Pacific Northwest. It often wins awards for the beauty of the area. It also frequently comes in second on the list of most beautiful theme parks behind Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. Come back for the future video of the Busch Gardens steam train which is on its way, and judge for yourself!
