The Show for Model Engineers

The exhibition featured over 30 clubs and societies, with hundreds of impressive exhibits showcasing a wide range of modelling skills. We were excited to host 8 new clubs this year, including the Association of Helicopter Aerosports, Echills Wood Railway, Grimsby and Cleethorpes Model Engineering Society, Harlington Locomotive Society, Northampton Society of Model Engineers, Nottingham Society of Model and Experimental, Model Engine Makers, and The Young Engineers.

Nearly 40 of the leading model engineering specialist trade suppliers participated, providing visitors with the tools, supplies, and expertise needed for their modelling activities.

The Society of Model and Experimental Engineering presented practical workshops and demonstrations, along with a range of their renowned models on display. Visitors had the chance to meet members, learn about their training courses, and explore their programme of meetings and membership opportunities.

*For Young Engineers*
This year’s show placed special emphasis on the next generation of engineers, with the Young Engineers Club attending, featuring members as young as 7 years old. “Nelly The Copter,” highlighted in the pre-show issue of Model Engineering magazine, was showcased and garnered significant attention.

Angus French, a three-time junior winner who is now a professional design engineer, presented his fully instrumented Formula 1 steering wheel, inspiring young attendees by demonstrating what can be achieved through dedication to engineering.

*The Model Engineers’ Workshop Lecture Programme*
Building on the success of previous years, this year’s Model Engineers’ Workshop (MEW) lecture programme once again attracted large audiences. Highlights included Mark Noel’s talk on building a seismometer, Bob Reeve’s discussion on thread milling, and Noel Shelley’s presentation on foundrywork. Malcolm High and Roger Froud shared insights on contrasting aspects of 3D printing, while Shaun Meakin provided a workshop on simplifying the brazing process. MEW Editor Neil Wyatt also delivered an engaging presentation about the unusual and challenging tasks he’s encountered in his ten years as editor.

The event was a resounding success, and we thank everyone who attended, exhibited, or contributed to making it one of the best exhibitions yet! We look forward to seeing you next year!
