Being creative is a small celebration of being human.

We think we're all grand masters in our small ways and so we'll be connecting through our Dots again to celebrate how something creative has made huge differences in our lives.

I've been getting so many great questions about the upcoming "Hubdot Arts and Creativity" night on 20th September that I'm gonna do a wee FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

I'm one of the Edinburgh Hubdot organisers so feel free to add any more questions to the FAQ if you're not sure about anything.

1. What on earth is all this Hubdot milarkey? Hubdot is a community for women to be inspired and connect through storytelling both online in the Hubdot Piazza (https://hubdot.com) and through a range of different events throughout the year.

2. What kind of events will you be running? In Edinburgh, we are planning networking and supper clubs with a variety of themes from fashion to food and from creativity to comedy. We pick the speakers around the themes. So we are always on the look-out for inspirational speakers. And great live bands too.

What's happening on Tuesday 20th September? We've booked a big room and a fab live band. We've got nibbles and fizz. We've also hand-picked some great speakers who come from the world of arts and culture who will have one minute (or so) to inspire you with their challenges and visions.

Who are the speakers? We can't say. Sworn to secrecy. All shall be revealed on the night. Suffice to say we have some real Scottish crackers.

5. What's all this "dot" stuff about? When you come to an event, you will register and be asked how you would like to categorise yourself. Here are all the possibilities:

Red - a very strong and determined colour, Red Dot means "I'm established in my ... (career, homelife, etc), how can I help?"
Yellow - light, a bright idea - Yellow Dot means "I have an idea, can you help?"
Green - Green Dot means "I'm here to be inspired."
Blue - a neutral colour for those not quite ready to expose themselves but interested in learning more - Blue Dot means "I'm here to shop and socialize."
Purple - an intense deep colour of the big idea, deep feelings and big passions. Purple Dot means "I want to tell you my story ...(my charity/passion/work)," it’s for those with a philanthropic story or a mission.

6. Why is all this 'dot' business necessary? This helps the whole ice-breaking and networking bit of walking up to strange wifies and going "So what's your game, hen?" Instead, you can say, "Ooh, you've got a Purple dot. What kind of charity are you involved in? How can I help?"

7. What kind of women attend? Are they all posh n'at? We embrace wifies, wimin and ladeez from all parts of Scottish society. Young and old. Our common characteristics are that we want to break out of our usual networks and make connections with a couple of new women with fresh ideas and perspectives.

8. Is Hubdot limited to Edinburgh? No, it's an international organisation where you have the opportunity is also there to make connections with other "Hubdotters" from Portland (USA) to Barcelona and from Antigua to London. The connections can be made in the online piazza or if you are visiting a city and want to be inspired by the local stories and women.

9. When? 20th September 2016 from 6:30pm-21:00

10. Where? The Dissection Room in Summerhall, Edinburgh EH9 1PL

11. How much? £20 + VAT = £25.44 and reduced tickets for students.
