In today’s episode of the ‘Why Asians Look Young’ series, I will be introducing you to Chinese Herbal Medicine.

Chinese herbal medicine has become a part of my everyday life, and is without a doubt one of my biggest secrets to keeping my youthful look. Traditional Chinese Medicine originated in ancient China and evolved over thousands of years. Practitioners trained in Chinese Herbal Medicine use this medical system to diagnose, treat and prevent illness. Ancient Chinese believed that humans are parts of the universe, and hence they try to balance the body to create an environment that’s not hospitable to their health issues.
Contrary to most Western medicines, Chinese herbal medicine is largely focused on prevention rather than cure. Therefore, herbal medicine will very rarely have an immediate effect on curing a certain illness, but rather prevent you from the same illness or discomfort again in the long-term. Paying attention to any discomforts in the body and then immediately go to a practitioner to fix it is a living habit for many Chinese like me.
