Hiking to Devil's Hollow in Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve, Alabama

Описание к видео Hiking to Devil's Hollow in Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve, Alabama

For this hike, a friend and I hiked to Karen's Falls in the Devil's Hollow of the Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve about 16 miles (25.7 km) southwest of Florence & Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Cane Creek Canyon Nature Preserve, a cooperative project with The Nature Conservancy of Alabama (#natureconservancy), is a 713 acre (288 hectare) privately protected natural area. It was established by the Lacefield family and provides protection for native plants and animals but is open to the public at no charge.

We first hiked to a two-tier waterfall near the start of the trail that is fun to explore and easy to get to. We then continued on to The Point; a viewpoint which has nice views down the canyon to the North. Next, we descended down into the canyon and followed along the sandstone cliffs along the east side until we came to the Devil’s Hollow side canyon. Turning up Devil’s Hollow, we continued until we reached Karen’s Falls at the head of the valley. On the way back, we took a slightly different route along the beautiful Cane Creek itself, with babbling water flowing around rocks and under foot bridges. Then we took a less steep route up out of the canyon back to where we started. All-in-all, this was a little more than a 7 mile round trip though a beautiful forested canyon system on a beautiful sunny day.
